" I don’t modernize or alter the tradition, because it’s in this authenticity that I find my passion and my connection to the craft."

My name is Raz Akta, a 23-year-old artist born and raised in Israel, deeply connected to the ancient craft of Yemenite silversmithing. Growing up in a home surrounded by art, with my mother, Orit Akta—a world known artist—as a constant inspiration, I was always searching for meaning through creativity. One day, accompanying my mother as she shopped for jewelry, The moment I saw the ancient pieces, I felt an immediate pull toward the traditional Yemenite craft. I knew I was meant to continue this nearly forgotten art form. After months of searching, I found the last master silversmith willing to teach me—a tradition historically passed only from father to son. Over a year of study, I immersed myself in the history of the Jews in Yemen and honed my skills in this meticulous work that brings me balance, calm, and a sense of belonging. Now, I am dedicated to preserving this nearly lost art and sharing its beauty with people worldwide, ensuring that this ancient craft lives on for future generations.
